Throw Clay LA teaches two different pottery methods, throwing and handbuilding, through six-week courses that cover creating pottery through every step. Throwing (Potter's Wheel) uses the wheel to create cylinders that can be formed into bowls, platters, mugs, and planters. Handbuilding offers a freedom of form for you to explore - our courses cover slab, coil and pinch building techniques.
Introductory Courses teach you the basic form and function of ceramics as well as trimming pottery, preparing your pieces for the kiln and basic glaze techniques.
Continuing Courses are designed to improve your pottery skills as you develop your artistic style. Designed for our members and potters with experience, these courses center on expanding your essential set of techniques, methods, and skills. All courses come with Student Practice time six days a week - time for you to experiment in the studio with what you are learning in your course.
All courses are 6-weeks and cost $295 - $335 which includes your clay, glazes and use of studio equipment and tools. Students must be 18 or over to register.
